There have been many questions about the Healthy Living Challenge. Some people have joined late and want to participate, so we compiled some frequently asked questions to help explain what we are doing.

Q: What is the Healthy Living Challenge 2011?

A: This challenge is a three month challenge where we all set goals together each week and then report back on how we did on the goal and how we can improve. We want these goals to help us evaluate where we can make small changes in our lives to improve our overall health.

Q: How long is the Challenge?

A: The Challenge started on January 1st and will run 12 weeks through March 26th.

Q: How do I participate?

A: You participate by doing your best in meeting the goals that we set each week and then report back to us on how you did. There are many ways to report your progress. You can comment on the YouTube videos, the Blog, the Facebook page, the Thintopia competition page, etc… See below for more information.

Q: Why should I participate?

A: You should participate to be part of a group with similar goals. We will all be accountable to each other for completing the goals each week. We will also be giving prizes to participants including shirts, gift cards, and more. The more you participate, the more likely you are to win a prize. You get a different number of points for the different ways you interact with Thintopia. The points will determine your likelihood of winning a prize.

Q: I didn’t start with everyone else. Am I too late? What did I miss?

A: It is never too late to join the Challenge. Whether you are in it from the start, or you join in the last week, you can always join in and participate at any time and work on the goals from the beginning.

These have been the goals so far:

  1. Record everything you eat
  2. Identify your negative beliefs
  3. Increase exercise 10%
  4. Have fun while you exercise
  5. Focus on improving another area in your life other than weight
  6. Make a meal using foods from Tier 1 and Tier 2 of Michi’s Ladder

Q: How will this help me?

A: Everyone is different and has different health goals. Some want to lose weight, some want to gain muscle, and others want to decrease their cholesterol or blood pressure. Whatever your overall goal, we believe there are basic building blocks to healthy living. Each week we are going through one of these goals to introduce it to the group. Maybe you are already doing some of them, but it doesn’t hurt to go over these habits again and help others make healthy choices. Thintopia historically has focused on weight loss, so many of the goals focus on that aspect, but these are relevant to anyone that wants to participate.
